Good afternoon! Last month I cleaned up my essential oil bottles, lids and dropper inserts. This is so I could reuse them for my family use and other uses. In doing so I made some wonderful scented bath salts, or feet soaking salts.
Please enjoy all the simple steps to reusing your own essential oil bottles. Have questions just click on the contact me tab at the top of the page.
Peel all tags off of your oil bottles (make sure to keep track of what was in the bottles and which jar your putting them in. My jars are labeled), I used a paper towel with water to remove any remaining stickiness from the labels. Remove the dropper insert. Fill large jars (used a small one for the last few bottles would not fit in the large ones) only on the bottom with Epsom salt. Place a few bottles, tops and inserts, add more salt. When jar is full fill with more Epsom salt. Put lid on and gently shake. Keep in these jars for 24 hours.
After the bottles have been in the salt 24 hours, pour the salt out into a large glass or metal bowl, that way you can keep the salts to give as gifts or use for yourself. In a large metal or glass bowl fill with warm water and 1 capful of YL Thieves cleaner. Leave these bottles, caps and inserts in the water for 24 hours.
Rinse out the bottles, caps and inserts with warm water after their 24 hour sit in the first bowl of water. Fill a large metal or glass bowl with ONLY warm water place the bottles, caps and inserts in this plain water for 24 hours.
After the 24 hours of sitting in the plain water, remove and rinse well, place on a towel to dry overnight or until dry. I did turn my bottles over after a few hours to make sure they would dry inside the bottle completely.
Now I have many perfectly good bottles to use again.
Here is the Periscope I did explaining some things.
